This popular and astonishingly simple five-line poetic form is ideal for beginning writers or creative writing students.
Cinquains are constructed under specific guidelines, counting words and syllables, which actually makes them easier to write than much free-form verse. Topic choices are open, although many cinquain poems have focused on nature.
